Les Miserables is the life story of Jean Valjean, a rehabilitated criminal. Through one very strong relationship with a child, he is able to find worth in life through selflessness. As he struggles to find a place in the society that cast him about, we see a story of love, poverty, cruelty, obsession, and redemption which, as a whole, is a moving commentary on love and social justice.
